USP Hazelton, September 16, 2012USP Hazelton, September 16, 2012 At 2:57 p.m., a gang related fight was announced on the recreation yard. An inmate was assaulted by other inmates. As staff arrived and were restraining the inmates involved, one inmate began assaulting staff. The inmate swung at the Operations Lt., elbowed one officer, and punched another officer in the face. After the inmate was escorted to SHU, he assaulted staff again by kicking another officer and spitting on two Lieutenants’. The institution was placed on lockdown for the rest of the night. The inmate was sent to the hospital due to injuries sustained in the initial inmate assault. |
