Inmate accused of attacking West Virginia prison workers

WHEEING, W.Va. (AP) - An inmate faces charges of assaulting several workers and trying to kill one while he was in custody at a federal prison in West Virginia.

A federal grand jury in Wheeling indicted 41-year-old Tarvis Leviticus Dunham on Tuesday. Dunham is charged with attempted murder and assaulting, resisting and impeding officers or employees.

According to the indictment, the incidents occurred on June 14, 2011, while Dunham was incarcerated at the U.S. Penitentiary-Hazelton in Preston County.

He is accused of hitting and twisting a case manager's neck and assaulting a guard and several other employees.

According to the Bureau of Prisons' website, Dunham is currently being held at the U.S. Penitentiary-Lee in Lee County, Va.
