Dwayne Person is the Mid-Atlantic Regional Vice President for the Council of Prison Locals C-33. He started his career with the Federal Bureau of Prison at FCI Petersburg, VA in 1986 as a Correctional Officer. In 1989, he was selected as an Electronic Foreman in UNICOR. Dwayne’s title has changed over the years, however he has always been an advent unionist. Dwayne's present work assignment in UNICOR is a Customer Service Representative. He has worked with the agency for more than 25 years.
In 1987, Dwayne join the Union. He has been a staunch Union member from that date to the present. After joining, Dwayne rose to the position of 1st Vice-President for Local 2052 at FCC Petersburg. He excelled and progressed thru the ranks of the Local to other positions of Executive Assistant and President. In August 2006 during a midterm election, Dwayne became the Mid-Atlantic Regional Vice President for the Council of Prison Locals where he has held the position ever since. Dwayne has spent a great portion of his career and his livelihood sacrificing on behalf of the membership. He has fought firsthand on behalf of employees against the injustice which continues to persist in the Federal Bureau of Prison. He has worked with some great administrators; however most was not so great. Because of this he has learned the tools of his trade to hold Agency management officials accountable locally and nationally. RVP Person has attended countless training sessions sponsored by the Union and the Agency. This has made him into a well-versed and knowledgeable advocate in EEO, Arbitration and MSPB. Dwayne’s forte is negotiations. He is the Chief Spokesperson for the Council's national bargaining team. Dwayne has sponsored training locally and nationally for his peers. RVP Person looks forward each day working with local leadership. His aspires to bring forth the best and diverse training programs to leaders in the field so they can excel. Dwayne believes in Justice. His philosophy is, "Justice delayed is justice denied." His first love is to the CPL membership. |
